Dear Fellow Rotarians,

When I was invited to join the Rotary Club of San Mateo almost 25 years ago, I knew it was a special group; how special, I had no idea. The welcoming, supportive, collaborative environment and laser focus on supporting our San Mateo community and the world community led to my involvement in committees, volunteer activities and lifelong friendships.

Now, as I transition to president of this great organization, it is clear to me how we truly encompass the Objective of Rotary: "To encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

"The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service".

High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, businesss, and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill , and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service."

I know from personal experience that the Rotary Club of San Mateo members live these objectives from the heart!

It is an honor to serve as your president for the 2015 - 16 Rotary year and I look forward to working alongside my fellow Rotarians to continue and grow  the incredible legacy that is the Rotary Club of San Mateo.

Cheers,

Ed Phillips

2015 - 16 President

Rotary Club of San Mateo
