Jeffery Byron, former CA Energy Commissioner Jeffery Byron, former CA Energy Commissioner Jun 9, 2011 Jeffery began by giving us a sense of what the Commission does, pointing out that to PG&E we aren't customers, we're rate payers. He then addressed the possible electrification of the transportation sector and informed us that California power plants mostly run on natural gas, with close to 20% running on renewable resources. It's hard to site new plants because of pressure for other forms of land use as well as the familiar NIMBY point of view.
