A Message from  President Kitty Lopez:

Dear Rotarian Friends,

Welcome to the 2011 – 2012 Rotary Year!  I am proud to be the 89th President of the Rotary Club of San Mateo.  As we embark on another year together, let us continue to strengthen our goals of fun, friendship, and service in the San Mateo community.  I encourage all of you to become even stronger and more committed Rotarians this year:  try some different projects; participate in some new fellowship events; raise more scholarship funds for youth; volunteer or help out in some unique way you haven’t done before.

A few weeks ago, 60 Minutes featured a story on homeless families from the children’s point of view.  I cried as I watched children talk about sleeping in a motel or being hungry.  I also smiled and felt proud at one youth’s story:  even with his moving from one neighbor’s house to another he was going off to college with Rotary scholarships to help him along the way.

This is the cornerstone of the San Mateo Rotary Club.  May we continue to lend our hand to young people and others this year in all we do.
